About the Author
Writing has been in my family long before I was even born. One of my earliest memories is banging out gobbledy-gook on my uncle’s typewriter, then running into the next room to share my “story” with my family. So, when I didn’t outgrow this knack for writing, my family wasn’t surprised.
I started writing the Chartile series when I was only thirteen years old. I never imagined it would grow into what it has become, but I am so thankful it has. My characters were real people to me, and I could be brave through them in a time I didn’t feel very brave.
Swansdale is lovingly named for the small town I grew up in: Swanton. Jayson, Jack, and Leo, though all different aspects of my own personality, were loosely based on three friends I had growing up. We would spend hours playing together and acting out stories we would make up in the little woods behind the sub division we lived in.
But, as I grew up, my priorities changed, and my writing was set aside. I began to pursue other passions I had in the animal industry. I attended a vocational school where I learned how to care for different animals, and I worked in one part of the animal industry or another for over thirteen years. I married my high school sweetheart, tried to go back to school for a biology degree. As luck would have it, that didn’t work out too well, and I know work as the office manager at the business my husband and I own and operate. It’s definitely a far cry from working with animals, and I do miss it very much.
What if He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was the Chosen One, destined to destroy himself?
Lucky for me, I get to work with a number of fabulous animal rescues in my area, and I foster kittens – mostly little bottle babies. The feedings every few hours and lack of sleep are totally worth it. Plus, I can bring my charges to work with me!
All dressed up and off to the cat show!
Today, I am so excited to finally see Chartile in print. It has been a long journey, and I am proud of myself. I hope that Jayson, Jack, Leo, Piper will inspire everyone who reads it. I want everyone to be inspired to be the best THEM they can be. I want everyone to know that no matter what life throws at you, even if it’s transporting you to a strange land, you can accomplish anything.
Currently, I reside in a small suburb of Toledo, Ohio with my husband and my 5 fur babies (Ailurette, Aster, Pharaoh, Pixie and Little Ra). I enjoy editing small indie films, and helping as a production assistant on small indie film projects, mostly based in Detroit (I would really love to be an actress some day). I participate in The Society for Creative Anachronism, and attend TICA cat shows with Ra (He can do a few clicker tricks and walks on a leash). My favorite color is purple, my favorite food is my grandmother’s homemade sweet gerkins, and my guilty pleasure is watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Fall is my favorite season, and Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday in the entire world!
Enjoying a King Cameron from Starbucks before heading to acting classes at Starbound!
I am looking forward to sharing Magic with you all very soon, and all the other books as well! I can’t wait for you to meet everyone in my books, and for me to meet all of you!
I hope Chartile inspires you to be the best YOU that you can be, and I hope you love it as much as I do.
